My Favourite Songs... Part 2

These songs bring back so many memories of those days when I used to write down lyrics on a sheet of paper while repeatedly listening to a song on an audio cassette/radio, this was before the advent of the internet. If you are lucky, you get the lyrics booklet free with a cassette which makes easier to start singing but most of the times, I had to listen and write down the lyrics.

But the more the effort you put to learn a song, shows how much you enjoy it - cause you'd love to sing it just as much as you love to listen to it. While at primary school, I was shy to sing in public so most of my singing sessions used to be on the terrace alone - especially during the summer vacation - can't forget those evenings. I used to listen to some hit songs on the radio cause we used to have a limited set of cassettes at home.

During my early childhood, most of the songs I listened to were the golden classics from Hindi Cinema. As my Dad is a big fan of Mohd. Rafi saab, me and my sister grew up listening to all of Rafi's hit songs and not to forget Kishore da, Lataji, Mukesh, Manna Dey, etc. But once we reached our teenage, we always listened and loved the latest songs of our generation.

Song: Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin
Film: Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin
Singers: Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal
Lyrics: Sameer
Music:  Nadeem Shravan

Reason I love this song:
Yes, I admire both the lyrics and the music of this song. My favourite lines are, "Dil to yeh chaahe har pal tumhe hum, Bas yunhi dekha kare" - I think the best and the most beautiful thing in the world would be the one you love (the love must be true), so no matter how many hours you keep looking at them, you'd never get tired or bored. Cause there is something special in their eyes or face that will always excite your mind, so you continue to stare. "Marke bhi hum na tumse judaa ho, Aao kuch aisa kare" - is another admirable line. You love them so much that you wanna be with them for ever and ever - until eternity. Well written by Sameer.

Song: Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain
Film: Pardes
Singers: Kumar Sanu
Lyrics: Anand Bakshi
Music: Nadeem Shravan

Reason I love this song:
I love the guitar strumming in this song - the use of acoustic guitar enhances the song, makes it a very soothing song. Although I enjoy all the lines of this song, one line is very beautifully written, "Honthon Pe Hai Khaamoshi Magar, Baatein Kar Rahi Hain, Baatein Kar Rahi Hain Nazar Chupke Chupke" - very poetic way of saying how lovers understand each other even in silence - to say how the lips are silent but they are still communicating through their eyes quietly glancing at each other. The song has innocent feelings weaved together.

Have a nice rest of the week, not long before it's weekend :)  It's gonna be Bank Holiday weekend here in UK - making it a nice long break!!! :)

Take Care,

Cheers!! :)

My Favourite Songs...

Welcome to this new series of posts where I like to share my favourite songs and why I love them :) Songs listed in these posts will be randomly picked one at a time from the music playlist I regularly listen to, hence they won't be numbered and I love them all equally. Hope you'll enjoy listening to them and if any of them are your favourites, please do let me know in the comments column :)

I sang all of these favourite songs at some point or other - in my room when I was on my own or at a family party or at a get-together with friends, etc. I've sung some of them and recorded them as audio files and saved them on my portable hard disk. That shows how much these songs have touched my heart.

So, taking one song at a time, here we go:

Song: Tu Bin Bataye
Film: Rang De Basanti
Singers: Madhushree, Naresh Iyer
Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi

Reason I love this song:
The line, "tu bin bataye mujhe le chal kaheen, jahan tu muskuraye meri manzil wahin" is perfectly written. It stirs me every time I listen to it - there is something deeply engraved in those words that brings out the true meaning of "trust" in love.

She trusts him so much that she'd go along with him to anywhere without questioning, cause she knows he'd do only the right thing - something that makes her happy. And the line also signifies that she wants to spend time with just him and forget the rest of the world - cause he is her world. The next line is even more meaningful, "the place where you smile, that is my goal/destination" - very well written :)

The music of this song is soulful too!! :)

Have a nice week ahead,

Take care :)
