Being a Healthy Perfectionist :)

Dedicated towards perfection, setting high personal standards, having a passion for excellence, giving extra attention to every detail, way too organised, etc - if you can associate yourself with any of these then yes, you are a perfectionist, I am one too! :)

As a child, I used to believe, “Give your best in everything you do”. I grew up to follow the principle of, “If you do it, do it right, give your 100% and nothing less, else - leave it and forget about it”.
It worked in school, but in my late teen years, a few setbacks, shortcomings and failures in life at college level taught me that nobody can be perfect. Aiming for perfection results in lots of tension and stress.

I love being perfect in everything I do and even in my behaviour as well, wish to be 100% good character, personality, sincere, hard working, honest, truthful, sober, decent, elegant, flawless, etc. Sometimes I wonder if people misunderstand my blog posts to be self-boasting, cause I portray myself as having the best approach towards life, but of course I can’t be right always, I am a failure too, I am foolish and act a stupid too sometimes but I learn a lot of useful lessons from my mistakes.

A lot changed in me since I came to UK, the perfectionist in me got compromised with the fact that nothing in this world can be 100% we are all imperfect and that is what makes life so beautiful. Yes, whats the fun if everybody is the best?

Perfectionism has both sides, but it’d be great if we can follow only the healthy side of it - aiming for high standards helps us reach greater heights, but we should be ready to constructively accept any kind of setbacks that come on our way to reach our goals.
So, let us try being healthy perfectionists and see how happy it can transform our lives :)

Take care, Cheers!! :)

Poem: Good night, Sleep well...

Night so dark, so silent,

Sleep on its way to our land,

Brings along peaceful dreams,

To soothe our heavy tired eyes...

Sleep comes to you my dear friend,

Settles like a feather on your eyelids,

Then sleep waves gently embrace you,

Giving way to a new world of dreams...

Genuine Apology!

My last two posts got no comments or opinions, dunno if any of my reader friends checked them or not, but am happy to always share my experiences and thoughts from life! :)

"I need to Apologise".

I walked into the hall, my father was sitting on the couch watching TV, I took a deep breath, walked straight to him, stretched my arm to hold his hand, a shiver ran down my spine.

"I am sorry Daddy, sorry for trying to argue with you", I said.

He said, "Its alright! Mistakes happen and we all learn from them, its a part of life".

I was unmoved, still holding his hand, "Please forgive me, unless you say that out I can't get away with this feeling of guilt".

"Ok, I forgive you, now go have your dinner, love you beta". He got up from the couch and gave me a hug.

I was a 20 year old, studying my 3rd year of Engineering and my father was upset with my studies, he scolded me for not concentrating on academics as my final exams were fast approaching. I argued that I was studying enough, but I knew, I was lying!

Trust me, it takes a lot of courage to give out a true and genuine apology coming straight from heart - an apology you do to badly get over the pain of guilt.

It really matters how sincere is your apology. Saying a sorry is easy and looks simple - if you want to satisfy the other person, but in certain situations in life, you know the mistake is on your side - then you get that shiver when you want to step down from your ego and take yourself down to earth to honestly apologise.

As long as I know I am honest and true, I'll never fear anyone, but if I know I lied or the mistake is on my side, then I am ready to give a Genuine Apology!

How was your experience giving a genuine apology, was it hard/easy?

Bettering Myself...

Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes, we meet, greet so many people, but how many of us are really kind and considerate towards others? How often can we pause and give it a thought if we can improve our approach towards things in life.

I often ask myself if I can be a better human being, a loving son to my parents, a caring brother to my sister, an affectionate friend to my friends, etc.

Improving our own self is a challenge in itself!

Every new day brings new possibilities and new opportunities, there is always scope for improvement in each and everything we do, be it relationships in life, managing time at office and home, whatever.

There are ofcourse bad days, when we tend to feel low and down, but we get over things eventually. Memories, once painful show us the way in due course of time to accept and get on with life.

So, if you meet me today I am myself and anytime in future if we get to meet again, you'll definitely meet the 'better me', so stay in touch!!

Take care, Cheers :)
