How often do you change the template of your blog? There are many sites which offer new designs, are you interested to Spruce Up Your Blog ? During an idle gossip with a friend yesterday, he asked me, “Why do you always keep switching over from one blog template to another? It looks so odd”.
I told him, “But variety is the spice of life, we always look for a change - we don’t eat the same food daily, we don’t wear the same clothes every day, we look for something different”.
My words made him laugh, “Variety is the spice of life – that doesn’t mean you keep changing anything and everything in life”.
He continued “Now, that is nowhere a relevant comparison which you are doing; how food and clothing can be compared with blog structure?”.
“Dude, life is more exciting when you try to do things in different ways. Blogging is just a hobby and I see it as a platform to meet good friends around, do you think changing templates has any significance?” I asked him.
He made a point, “Though I’m lazy to write a comment, I still read every post on your blog and when you keep changing templates, it is such a big distraction to a regular reader like me”.
I was surprised, “So you feel that it is better to stick on to one template and live with that all the time. Anyway, I’m going to make this chat of ours as a blog post, read it tomorrow”.
He enquired, “What is there in this to write?” I replied, “To take opinions from my other friends as well”. After his advice, I switched back to my previous template and decided to hang on to it for long.
Well, do you agree with my friend’s opinion? Does changing a blog template often, really distract regular readers?

buddy..u friend has good intentions..but nothing proves worthwhile like experiment..variety is indeed the spice of life..even i would like to change my template often..only worried i may mess it up..wish i had someone with tech knowledge to help me being a computer illiterate...good luck..hope to c yr blog in a new uniform tom..hey..hold yr friend, he is trying to throw something on me...

Your post came at a time when I was thinking about changing the look of my blog. You must have seen that my blog does not have any photos. Was thinking whether it would be more attractive if I introduced more colour. At the same time, there are a lot of regular readers,who perhaps have got more used to seeing my drab blog. So I am thinking what to do.
I will be looking for some comments in your post to gauge the response of the people to this change.
By the way, I had a 60th follower, but she is an American desi. Got offended by my last post and stopped following me! Some people have no sense of humour na?
It will be nice to see a new design, if the old one is dull and had been there for a long long time. I too have seen people changing their headers etc. and they look very refreshing.
In the end, it is your blog and you can opt for anything you want. You should be happy to see it first.

I love change. I love to change my template often...i can't seem to help myself. When I see others change their blog templates...i always say wow to myself and look around. For me it doesn't distract...but that's just me, I have no idea what turns on or off other people.. but i think your friends opinion is not alone I'm sure.

Good one, Charan. I do believe the wording "Change is constant".
But I feel this wont apply for Blog template and I do go with your friend's opinion. If it is just for hobby then its okay. But, if you want to create a brand to your blog then you need to have a permanent template and you can have few changes often.
Just imagine, if Yahoo keeps on changing its template, how do you feel?

Yes, you said it right, as a hobby, we can just play around with new designs but for a professional blogger, a branded long-lasting template is needed.

Variety is indeed the spice of life.I get bored of seeing the same thing everyday,i always move my furniture in the hall.The same way i love to change the header in my blog,did u check my new blog header??
Change isn't a bad thing - as long is it isn't done too continuously.
A new fresh look brightens up a blog. If you want to change your template - go ahead - it's your blog and you can do as you please. We'll soon adapt to the new look. I don't think it'd distract regular readers. If a reader loves your blog it's because of what you write in it and a change of template won't keep them away.
You'll never keep me away from your blog, no matter how often you change it. :D

A change is good once in a while. it's like a breath of fresh air :) Same like changing mu hair style. I like something different once in a while.
