Got the Real Taste of Music!!! ;) Part 2

Music is indeed an ocean, we come across different waves of influences and get introduced and discover styles you've never known before.

There are songs which blow your mind the very first time. When you love a song, you connect to it straight away and immediately sense that there is something special about it that makes you want to listen to it again and again, may be a hundred times and you still can't get enough of it!!

If you ask me what music I enjoy at home - I guess my neighbour could answer that better cause nowadays I play music so loud that the whole street listens to it LOL ;) Basically, I love anything that has electric guitar and drums!! :)

Though lyrics primarily convey the tale of the song, it's not just the vocalist but I think every musician in the band, guitarist, drummer, bassist, etc tell their own back-story of that song with their respective instruments and if everything falls in place, the song turns right!

Ok, there's a lot to talk about, but let's have a quick look at some of the best guitar solos. I've already mentioned one of Guns n Roses's epic - Sweet Child O Mine, lets check the most inspiring guitar solo of all times, Stairway to Heaven by Jimmy Page.

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Jimmy's definitely the most dynamic and versatile rhythm guitar player ever, with awesome rhythm tricks and he easily switches between wall-busting power chords to barely-strummed triad chords or arpeggios. Especially the multi hammer-on technique - the way to play faster leads without needing to increase your picking hand speed. He used his fingers as a slide - to hold down partial chords and slide them around on the neck.

Stairway to Heaven, known as the greatest electric guitar solo in rock music history is a huge inspiration to every guitarist. The intro shows how Jimmy likes to finger pick arpeggios. When you listen to this song first time you would never imagine how the tender acoustic finger picking in the intro goes onto to turn into a power chord barrage at the end which give you goosebumps - amazing!!

Eruption - Van Halen is a marvel guitar solo - listen to it, can awesomeness get any better??

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Another iconic guitar solo by Kurt Cobain. Drummer Dave Grohl deserves special appreciation for his great work in this song!! - Here we are now, entertain us!!!

November Rain - Guns n Roses - what can be said about this song, one of Slash's best guitar solo  - just enjoy!!

Have a wonderful week ahead!! :)

Cheers!! :)

Flippin' Awesome!!! ;)

You gotta walk on stage and start playing like Eddie Van Halen

In the above video Eddie's performing Eruption, an instrumental guitar solo.

Flippin' awesome, totally kick ass innit?

Eddie, one of the best rock guitarists of all time - has shown the world some seriously new techniques that you can work on to improve on them and someday you can create your own style.

What I mean by technique is how he locks the bridge in different positions, changing the pitches of the open strings, speed picking notes(Trill Picking), tapping, hammering on and pulling off during tapping, he pulls off open strings to make it sound like notes are flying everywhere, OMFG genius stuff!! :)

This stuff inspires every guitarist and also helps in adding new things to your guitar vocabulary! ;)

Enjoy your evening, the sun's still shining bright!!

Cheers!! :)

Take care!! :)

Happy Mother's Day! :)

Happy Mother's Day to all wonderful mums across the world!! :)

Mother's Day is being celebrated today, the second Sunday of May - in India, USA, Canada and most countries in Europe.

Here in England, it is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent, exactly three weeks before the Easter Sunday and usually falls in the second half of March or the beginning of April. So, since 2011, I've been sending wishes to my Mum in both March and May! :)

Check this heart warming short film, "Seeds" made using google glass:

And mother's love is the same across all species and motherly affection has got no boundaries, check this story of a cat adopting and mothering ducklings!!

Have a great Sunday!! :)

Cheers!! :)

Crazy Laughs!! ;)

If weekdays are for busy work life then what are weekends for? Any guesses?

Yeah, for crazy laughs!! ;)

Wow, whata wonderful evening it was with colleagues - had fun, jokes, laughs and delicious pizza for dinner at a pub and just back home, thought I'd share some laughs!! :)

All the below images are owned by their respective authors and shared here for fun and non-commercial purpose. Click on any picture to view as slideshow.

Most of the jokes below use the F word. So, read them at your own risk - only if strong language doesn't offend you, it's all for laughs and nothing else.

Personally, I've been speaking swear words since I was a kid - but for fun only. Well, I used to be sober at home with family; but with friends I use the F word most of the times and I do cause am someone who believes that swear words are for the light-hearted and we never speak them on a serious note - they are purely for fun-sake!! ;)

Like usual, do let me know what made you laugh the most!! :)

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Enjoy!! ;)

Got the Real Taste of Music!!! ;)

“I devoted every waking hour to playing music. It became my religion, the record store my church, the Rock Stars my saints and their songs my hymns” - Dave Grohl, a rock musician.

Since childhood, I've been so used to listening to only Indian music - radio at home and music that plays on the television  and most of it was Indian(Hindi & Telugu) film songs, instrumental and classical Indian music. Only after I came to England, I got introduced to the English(Western) music, specially listening on the radio.

Being a lyric lover, I enjoyed songs with meaningful lines, so most of the times I listened to romantic melodies and when it came to instrumental - guitar solos were my favourite. In 2011 and 12, I slowly got taste of the variety in western music. I always had my favourite among the weekly singles charts - 'UK Official Top 40 songs'.

In late 2013, I turned to hard rock and different types of dark, deep heavy metal music to overcome the lows and pressure of not being able to find a professional job, being away from home and family since 3 years and loneliness was on rise and slowly my mp3 player's rock and heavy metal playlist started growing and made me feel better and better and I began to explore and enjoy this amazing music!!

Finally in early 2014, I got the real taste of music - I've discovered my favourite genre of music -  I love "Hard Rock n Heavy Metal".

My favourite hard rock bands are Led Zeppelin, Guns n' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Queen, Oasis, AC/DC, etc

I was so happy in Jan'14 cause I was finally listening to music which took me to a new world. The music which is a perfect remedy for heart ache and to lift up spirits high, the music that inspires you and adds to your strength and courage!!

Below is an iconic song which was one of my first inspirations to embrace hard rock music!

Sweet Child O' Mine is my all time favourite guitar solo and the best by Slash:

Will continue this post later to share more of my favourite rock n metal music, do share about your favourite songs in the comments column!! :)

Cheers!! :)
