Right after I graduated a few years ago, I had been to Bangalore city to attend a couple of interviews. And in one of the interviews, during the personal round, I was asked a funny question.
As I stepped into the room, the young HR manager welcomed with a big smile on his face. After a few questions on my bio data, then came the big question, “Tell me one simple and easy way to kill time?”. The question left me surprised. He continued, “I give you exactly one minute to think and don’t give regular answers, I expect an ‘out of the box’ kind of answer from you”.
In that one minute, I thought about a hundred ways and finally spoke out, “Sitting silently near a milestone on a highway, go on eating peanuts and counting the cars and buses which pass by”. He laughed as he heard me give that answer, “Great idea, so what do you do when there is no traffic on the highway?”
I spontaneously sprang with an answer, “Look at the clouds in the sky and forget time”. He laughed again, “Gentleman, your answer impressed me; you can look at the results after two days, good luck”. I left the room after shaking hands with him.
But after two days, my name was missing in the final selection list and I knew the reason - my answers were not up to the mark during the technical round as it was the toughest one I ever faced. But the interview gave me a funny moment to cherish for long…
Dear reader, what would be your answer to the funny question, if you were in my shoes?

Correct. Your memories make your life.
These experiences are the steps to reach your goal. You are taking everything positively and that is a good nature.
I liked your spirit of taking this so positively. But I would also like to know what kind of answer was the HR guy expecting? This was such an inane question to ask in an interview.

Thanks for passing by and I hope that your visit to Beyond Barriers... made you feel happy.
To be honest, even I didn't know exactly what the HR guy was expecting me to answer but I suppose that it was a test of personality and he closely observed my way of approach.
Only when I was out of the room, I came to know that different funny questions were being asked and a new one to every candidate.
Cheers,
Charan.
I would sit and think of various answers possible for that question. But i guess even this answer would not have won me any brownie points from thr HR guy.
