A Good Listener is a Perfect Lover :)

"The first duty of love is to listen" - so if you wanna be a good lover, then you gotta be a good listener too :)

"An open ear is the only believable sign of an open heart", quoted author David Augsburger.

"So when you are listening to somebody, completely, attentively, then you are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it, not part of it." - quoted philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti.

Dr. Rachel Remen, a pioneer in integrative medicine said,

"The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention. And especially if it's given from the heart. When people are talking, there's no need to do anything but receive them. Just take them in. Listen to what they're saying. Care about it. Most times caring about it is even more important than understanding it."

Now if you are wondering how to listen and love at the same time? Well let me try to explain you by sharing what I would do when a loved one has something to say.

If you are my loved one - my friend/family and you come to me and want me to listen to something you wanna say:

• I would first make you feel comfortable and would encourage you to talk

• Will give you my full attention while you are speaking and won't interrupt

• Will concentrate, understand and absorb everything you are saying to me and will ask appropriate and relevant questions wherever needed

• Will show my genuine interest in the subject you are talking about

• Will recognise the non-verbal communication as well - I mean the facial expressions, eye contect, etc

• What I am trying to say here is - I will listen to the feelings and not just words

Simply follow these steps and you'd notice how you can love your loved ones even more through listening!!! 

You have to listen sincerely with devotion and not pretend - caring should be true and straight from the heart only then it will touch the other person's heart.

I am here to patiently listen and understand everything you gotta say - says the listening ear :)
