How Important is Trust?

The first step for every healthy and happy relationship with our family or friends is - Trust!

"To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved" - was rightly quoted by Scottish poet George MacDonald.

What are the important qualities to see in a person before trusting him/her?

Here is a list of qualities which I believe help build and maintain trust:

  • Integrity: Honesty, truthfulness are essentials for trusting a person
  • Reliability: It gives predictability of what a person does, stability and uniformity
  • Courage: A person who lacks courage will let you down in a crisis - so a brave heart is most trusted
  • Character: It is important to have the right morals in life to be trusted
  • Consistency: It increases confidence on that person
  • Respect: to self and also towards others - It gives dignity and shows a caring attitude
  • Acceptance: Ability and willingness to accepting both positives and negatives of others
  • Openness: Shows your willingness to share your thoughts views and opinions and also listening to what others say
  • Congruence: If a person says one thing and behaves differently, how can you trust that person? So, both his words and actions should harmonise.
  • Fairness: Should be just and fair in life - free from any kinda bias or injustice

If you wanna be 100% trustworthy then you gotta have the Integrity, be reliable, be bold and courageous, have a good character, be consistent, respect others, accept others for what they are, be open, stand on your words, be congruent and be just and fair in everything you do.

Trust is the key for every relationship to be successful, healthy and happy, so trust wisely and always be trustworthy!! :)

Have a lovely evening!! :)

Take care :)

Hi Sai

A very nice and a very meaningful post! I loved this! Trust is indeed the most important thing in every relationship. For me a person who is not trustable is shallow and useless.
