Poem: Address of an Open Heart...

Lately I've been writing only on love, job search and motivation, here's something different! Done some introspection today evening and came up with this poem - a glimpse of inner self, the heart!

Glow of warmth,

Sparkle of purity,

Infinite care for every species,

Empathy for every healing soul,

Colour of rainbow in every smile,

Reflection of kindness in every move...

Even the deepest secret so transparent,

Pumps blood to every direction in a body,

We all treasure it safe inside our chest,

But few truly believe in its existence,

This is an address of an open heart,

You can unlock it without any key...

Stay Hungry, Stay Focussed...

A visionary once quoted, "Stay hungry, Stay foolish". He meant that we need to try new things, be ready to step out of our comfort zone. You only live once, so make it count and achieve what you dream no matter how hard it gets.

It was Apple visionary Steve Jobs and the title of this post is derived from his famous commencement speech at Stanford University in June 2005.

We all have goals in life - short term, long term, professional, personal, etc. We can write them down, paste on the wall, fix time intervals, targets, etc. There is another effective way which is to read out your goals and record in your own voice as an audio file and save it on your mp3 player, keep listening to it now and then to remind yourself what you gonna achieve.

When you decide to achieve something, whatever it may be, you gotta look at what drives you on your journey, what motivates and inspires you.

Below is a page from my diary which I often read to keep myself motivated and focussed. I've jotted down these points when I read motivational books, don't remember which one is from which book, so unable to quote authors names. But if you are working towards a goal and seriously wanna achieve it, then you might find these points useful:
  • To get recognised is hard, real hard, incredibly hard - there are millions out there who are better than you, but if you fear that you will not be able to do anything - well, no matter how many winners are out there, there will always be space for more, so if you wanna be a winner, then work hard and find a spot for yourself.
  • There is start for everything, if you set out to build the biggest wall ever built, you shiver with fear of how huge the task is and you can't get anywhere - so you should start with an aim to lay one brick each day and lay that brick as perfectly as possible. You do that every single day and soon you will have a wall. Over years, you will have the biggest wall.
  • There is nothing impossible in this world - everything can be achieved with hard work and dedication.
  • "He who says he can and he who says he can't are both usually right". So, always say, "Yes, I can, yes am gonna do it, yes, I'll win it, yes I can make a difference".
  • You have a choice about how you feel and act in any situation, you don't always have to go with the crowd.
  • If you want to succeed in life, you've got to create your own dream, with you in the starring role. The first step before anybody else in the world believes it, you have to believe it and expect good things to happen.
  • To achieve a level of success in any field, it takes such a 'desperate' focus with all your heart. Practice every single day with concentration and passion.
  • The qualities of an achiever are - passion, dedication, hard work and believing in what you dream.
  • You know who you are, you know what you believe in and from there you gotta do what you need to do to reach your goal.
  • You fail more often than you win, its up to you to puff up your chest and get back on your feet and prove yourself what you set out for, once you decide that you wanna get there, no matter what happens, you should never give up.
  • Go with what seems to be workable for you, don't overload yourself with strategies and goals - take one step at a time - but make sure its done properly.
  • Be willing to take criticism on your way - but commit yourself to be positive.

Keep up the spirit, keep working hard, step by step you will reach there someday - you will be a Winner.

Have a nice day, take care :)

Job Search, a Challenge...

How long will your CV stay on the recruiter's desk before it is either piled up or goes into the bin?

An employer or recruiting agency receives too many applications for a certain role that is advertised. So, how good should your CV be to get noticed, all those key words which help you gain attention.

Your resume is the only tool or instrument you have, cause you can never personally project your knowledge, experience and personality and your CV has to do it for you. There are lots of ways you can present your CV, but what matters at the end of the day is whether it sufficiently conveys all you like to say about your skills and experience.

Since I graduated in July this year, I've been working on making my CV better, been applying for jobs and getting to know how difficult it is for that first step - your CV getting shortlisted. Then comes the question of whether your CV is competetive enough with the other shortlisted ones, then you'll be called for an interview.

I have worked with two different companies for nearly 3 years before opting for masters in automotive engineering. Since I graduated, I noticed that its hard to get shortlisted for experienced roles, its difficult to convince the recruiter with an experience from India cause they prefer people with experience from the UK.

I'll keep trying and will update my progress and will defo share any tips and suggestions on ways that work for me.

Do share any of your interview experiences with me in the comments column and you can always suggest me I welcome and value your opinions.

Hope you are having a nice day, take care :)

Warmth in a Welcome...

How often do you get a truly warm welcome? And how often do you give the same?

We are all welcomed to every place we visit, be it a friends house, a cousins or relatives place. People have different ways of giving a welcome, some are more expressive, some are very polite, some a bit quiet, but in the end what touches our heart is how affectionate the welcome was.

Visits priorly planned are well received but surprise visits are open to a variety of reactions. Sometimes you knock the door of a friend/family whom you last met a decade ago, there will be lots of excitement in the air, hugs and laughs, shouts and cries. Sometimes you give a surprise visit on someones birthday, they are rejoiced and run out of words to say how happy they are.

Majority of our experiences are happy ones, but there is that odd visit when you knock the door and there stands a person with an expression, "Oh! noo, not you!". He got no choice but to call you in with a frowny face and you'll feel so uncomfortable with the cold welcome that you wish to say bye and leave soon. Some people are so busy, you often get greeted by their servants and you get to see the actual person after a good long wait.

I always believe that there is more joy in drinking a glass of water served by a warm welcoming heart than drinking a glass of world's finest nectar served by a cold, rejecting heart.

So when was the last time you received a very warm welcome and you had any bad experiences anytime? please share them in the comments column!

Have a nice day, take care :)
